WLRH is a non-commercial public radio station with the primary mission of supporting education, the arts and community service in the Tennessee Valley. WLRH is licensed to the Alabama Educational Television Commission, which also holds the license to Alabama Public Television.

WLRH operates on 89.3 megaHertz FM with 100,000 watts of stereo power, covering a service area roughly 60 miles in all directions from its transmitter on Monte Sano Mountain, including north central Alabama and south central Tennessee. WLRH also broadcasts three HD channels. HD1 is a digital version of the main WLRH signal. HD2 is a 24-hour classical music service. HD3 provides the best news, talk and variety programs offered by National Public Radio and American Public Media. Most of the funding for WLRH comes from listener contributions, with additional support from underwriters, the State of Alabama, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.


The Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation’s (MDMEF) mission is to partner with North Alabama educators to develop innovative initiatives like their flagship program “Concerts in the Classroom” that facilitates musical performances by accomplished local musicians in a classroom environment. This effort is aimed at providing a creative and educational platform that fosters an awareness and appreciation for music and the arts for students in North Alabama. The Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation board and volunteers are a group of highly motivated individuals from the business and arts community dedicated to inspiring through music education. Their purpose is to enlighten and motivate students by providing them with an opportunity to experience live music and interact in an informative way with professional musicians representing a wide variety of genres. Their singular goal, by way of the support of local musicians, is to foster creative development in the young minds of the community.


Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, The Pacific Northwest’s Cozy Home for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit performing arts organization providing a variety of programs, classes, and performances in a nurturing environment. TNTT offers children and adult opportunities to experience the excitement, vitality, unpredictability and exuberance of live theater, music, and arts education.
